The Peace Park development program is a grass roots community-based initiative that enriches lives and creates harmony within the community through citywide programs promoting peace, inner strength, unity and family values. The project works to promote healthy life styles, implement educational and recreational programs, and create public participation, respect, compassion, and enrichment of our urban landscape.
We work with national museums, educational institutions and organizations to incorporate history through art, creating exhibits and monuments that reflect our heritage. We strive to honor the lives of African Americans who opened the door for us and stand as strong role models for children.
The Capital’s first monument to a Black Heritage Movement legend is in the process of being built. Spearheaded by our own Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the monument will serve as a permanent testament to American civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. This $100 Million project is underway and needs your support.
